Why I Created Her Ride Her Way

I never imagined I'd be the woman standing beside her horse, questioning herself.
Like so many others, life happened. Travel. Building a career. Raising two boys. The usual suspects.
Horses were always part of who I was, but there was a season where they had to take a back seat. And when I finally found my way back...
Everything felt different.
Or maybe the truth is...
I was different.
Gone was the fearless rider who'd simply swing a leg over and give it a crack.
Instead, I found myself overthinking everything.
What if something goes wrong?
What if I've forgotten how to do this?
What if everyone else is more capable than me?
Throw a few midlife hormones into the mix, and it felt like my brain had decided to host a full-blown party—one I definitely hadn't RSVP'd to.
I started looking around the equestrian world, convinced I was the only one feeling this way.
But the more conversations I had, the more I realised I wasn't alone.
There were women everywhere who loved their horses with every fibre of their being, yet quietly carried fear, self-doubt, guilt or overwhelm. Women who desperately wanted to trail ride, compete, attend clinics, camp with their horses or simply enjoy a peaceful ride... but felt stuck.
Not because they didn't know how to ride.
Because somewhere along the way, they'd lost confidence in themselves.
And I realised something else.
Most of the support available focused on fixing the horse.
Very little focused on supporting the human.
That's where Her Ride Her Way was born.
Not as riding instruction.
Not as counselling.
But as a space where women could feel genuinely safe to rebuild confidence from the inside out.
A place where we slow things down, quiet the mental noise, learn practical tools to manage fear and overthinking, and then reconnect with our horses through meaningful groundwork that builds trust, clarity and leadership.
Because when the human feels calmer and more capable, the horse notices.
Everything changes.
Today, Her Ride Her Way is about far more than horses.
It's about helping women remember who they are.
Helping them stop wondering "what if?" and start saying "why not?"
Helping them rediscover the joy that brought them to horses in the first place.
Because I truly believe every woman deserves to chase the dreams that set her soul on fire—whether that's trail riding with friends, attending Adult Riders, camping with her horse, or simply feeling excited to catch her horse again.
Your ride.
Your way.
And if my story sounds a little like yours...
You're in exactly the right place.
