Why Getting Someone Else to Ride Your Horse Won't Fix the Problem

This one might be a little uncomfortable...
But it needs to be said.
If you're paying someone else to ride your horse because you've lost confidence, you're solving the wrong problem.
Now, before anyone gets defensive...
There are absolutely times when a professional rider is worth every cent.
A young horse needing miles.
A horse returning from injury.
A horse with genuine training gaps.
A rider wanting advanced education for their horse.
That isn't what I'm talking about.
I'm talking about the woman who watches someone else ride her horse because she doesn't feel safe getting on herself.
The woman who says,
"Once he's had a few rides, I'll get back on."
The trouble is...
Your horse might become fitter.
He might become more educated.
He might even feel easier to ride.
But you haven't changed.
The fear.
The overthinking.
The racing heart.
The "what ifs."
They're all still waiting for you when it's your turn to climb back into the saddle.
In fact, sometimes they've had even more time to grow.
Because confidence doesn't magically appear while someone else is riding your horse.
It grows when you build the skills, the trust and the belief that you can handle whatever comes next.
That's why at Her Ride Her Way, we don't start with riding.
We start with you.
Sometimes that means you don't even bring your horse to the first session.
Sometimes it means we spend time rebuilding your confidence on the ground before you even think about putting a foot in the stirrup.
And do you know what usually happens?
The horse changes too.
Not because someone else rode him.
But because his person changed.
She became clearer.
Calmer.
More intentional.
More effective.
Horses notice that.
They've been noticing us all along.
If you're genuinely lacking confidence, there's no shame in admitting it.
In fact, I'd argue it's one of the bravest things you can do.
Because once you stop pretending the problem is your horse...
You finally get to work on the one thing that changes everything.
You.
And here's the beautiful part.
When you change, your horse gets the very best version of you.
Not because someone else kept him going.
But because together, you've rebuilt the partnership you were hoping for all along.
Ready to take the first step?
If this blog felt a little too close to home, I want you to know something...
You are not the only one.
The women who come to Her Ride Her Way aren't bad riders.
They're not weak.
They're not "hopeless."
They're simply women who have found themselves stuck somewhere between the dreams they still have and the confidence they wish they felt.
That's exactly why I created this space.
We begin with the human.
We build practical tools to quiet the mental noise, create clarity and rebuild trust in yourself. Then, together, we transfer those skills to your horse through meaningful groundwork before taking those next steps towards the saddle.
Because no one else can build your confidence for you.
But you don't have to do it alone.
If you're ready to stop wondering "What if?" and start asking "Why not?", I'd love to walk alongside you.
Whether that's at a Human First session, a private coaching session, or one of our small group horse and human experiences...
There's a place for you here.
Your ride. Your way.
